‘‘Kai, this journey isn't for the weak’’ I said(in my pidgin voice)
(Curious right?) Let me tell you how it all started:
June 2023:
(Hmm, ehh, aahh, ehhhh), yes, that was me breathing heavily like someone who just lifted a 25 kg dumbbell. Actually, I did an equivalent {squats(2 sets of 10reps)}- before you laugh at me or you've probably laughed😩, it wasn't easy at all. Shortly before last year summer, I came across a video(you’ll see it shortly) and immediately, it sparked up a genuine interest in me for working out. I couldn't wait to see myself posting my fitness progress😌(maybe, I am now). So, yes, I began. Hmm, just like you predicted I couldn't keep up. Should I tell you how many days I showed up😩? E..e..e..eight😪.
(3 months later, the gym junkie in me awoke from slumber)
September 2023:
I showed up again but this time more enthusiastic. I stood in front of the mirror recited loudly (low-key violently) Philippians 4:13(I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me). “Tolu, you can do it, you can be consistent” became my anthem every morning. I showed up!!I showed upppp😌(you were thinking otherwise right) for about 14 days(ehnn, it was longer this time) and disappeared.
A year later:
Before I tell you, what do you think creative director 😌 was getting wrong? (Tell me your answer later in the comment section) Now, let's see if you're right….
I really wanted to workout but I never thought to ask myself why. Was it to lose weight (definitely not), build muscles, gain weight or maintain my overall physical health? I didn't even have an end goal in mind, how then can I even think of building systems? Most times, we focus on what we want to do and forget why? and how?
Amongst many benefits of having an end goal in mind, it keeps you going when the going gets tough. Those moments when you don't want to show up, you immediately remember why you started in the first place and go back.
When you find out the why?, Then think about the how? What systems would you put in place(whether it’s fixing a time & place for it or getting an accountability partner) just write down how? and wait wait, it's not only for fitness enthusiasts like mee(purrr😌), whether it's your devotional life, academics, eating habits you want to improve- it's works for everyone! As you set your goals for the new month, don't be vague about it and yesss, reduce your reliance on pep talk. Like my Pastor (Apostle Emmanuel Iren) once said: to build good habits, depend on systems not discipline.

So, once you likeee, suscribeeeeee comentttttt, sharee(finish first o😂)-run back to your journal and review those goalss!
(draws curtains)
Oh no, wait please, how can I forget this important information?😩- one year later I resumed my fitness journey. I’ll definitely keep you guys updated. Byeeee🌹
Yes, definitely! Systems over discipline!!
Well done!
